Request for an External Examiner

The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences requires External Examiners to support the School of Health Sciences.

Our nursing programmes are ranked second in the UK by The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016 and The Complete University Guide. The School has a rich community of leading healthcare researchers and the programmes of study on offer reflect the current and future work of the clusters of expertise situated within the School

External Examiners will be appointed for three years starting in September 2015 with the possibility of further extension for a fourth year. They are expected and encouraged to comment on the content of the subject area particularly with regard to subject benchmarks, the structure of the programme, the appropriateness of the assessment procedures and the general conduct of the assessment process. Ideally External Examiners will be able to examine across both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

We are looking for External Examiners to cover the specific modules leading to registration of District Nurses, Health Visitors, School Nurses and Community Nurses and applicants must be on part 3 of the NMC register.

The following modules would be included:

  • Dissertation (Research Project)
  • Early Intervention Work with Children, Parents and Carers
  • Health Promotion: Partnership and Enablement
  • Primary and Community Care Policy
  • Professional Practice in Specialist Community Public Health
  • Public Health Assessment
  • Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults
