The School is seeking to appoint two subject external examiners to the community and associated programmes (at undergraduate and postgraduate levels). The remit involves assessment of theory and practice modules relating to:
• Occupational Health Nursing
• Undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study (SCQF L7-11)/ Theory and practice aspects of professional practice
External examiner responsibilities include moderation of assessments, completion of an annual monitoring report and attendance at subject panels where student marks are ratified. Normally there are 3 subject panels per academic session. The School uses an electronic marking system associated with the originality checking programme Turnitin, called Grademark. External examiners therefore are required to make use of the system during the external moderation process accessible through Moodle Virtual Learning Environment.
Experienced and new external examiners will be considered provided the applicant has the relevant professional qualifications and experience. Relevant professional experience/qualification and a valid teaching qualification are essential requirements for these posts. In addition, given the academic level of the programmes, applicants are required to hold a masters qualification.
The appointments will be with effect from 1st October 2014 and will be for a full 4-year term.
Full details of the programmes and modules will be provided to appointees and an induction day will be held by the University following appointment. Further information about UWS policy for external examiners is available at http://www.uws.ac.uk/schoolsdepts/qeu/examiners.asp
