We are seeking to appoint a Subject External Examiner for the MSc Contemporary Healthcare – Child pathway, and existing and new child-specific professional development modules at Level 6 and 7. Students are registered healthcare professionals (predominantly nurses) whose main role involves working with children/young people and their families in a range of settings. Consequently, the external examiner would, ideally, be a Children’s Nurse with experience of post-graduate educational provision, have a recordable teaching qualification and a current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, however other healthcare professionals with appropriate experience and qualifications may be considered for the position.
The appointments will be for 4 years from 1 January 2015 until the 31 December 2018 (MSc Contemporary Healthcare – Child pathway) and 1 November 2014 until the 31 October 2017 (child professional development modules) and the commitment required is as follows:
• MSc Contemporary Healthcare – 2 assessment panels per year and the submission of one annual (full) and one interim subject external examiner report
• Professional Development modules – Level 6 & 7 one (full) subject external examiner report
• To review a range of coursework throughout the year
• To engage in communication with the programme/module teams
• To carry out at least one interim engagement per year (which may take the form of a ‘virtual’ visit by video conference/Skype in recognition of the logistical difficulties presented by Plymouth’s geographical location) and at least one face to face visit during the term of office to obtain feedback from staff and students on assessment in practice and to strengthen their engagement with the ongoing teaching and learning process
