The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Staffordshire University is seeking to appoint an external examiner to ensure the quality of our post-qualification nursing courses focusing on community based care including District Nurse and Practice Nurse provision.
If you join our team of external examiners we would expect you to have an understanding of the NMC standards for education in relation to Specialist Practice District Nursing and Community Practitioner prescribing and have responsibility for delivery of similar programmes or modules in your own institution. Applicants must hold a current NMC registration with an additional Specialist Practice District Nursing.
The Award and modules attached to this post are delivered at both our Stafford and Shrewsbury University sites with students utilising placement partners in Staffordshire and Shropshire.
Tenure: 4 years to 2020
Assessment Board dates will be confirmed upon appointment. We expect you would be able to attend at least 2 of these per year. In addition we expect that during your visits to the University you will be able to meet with Mentors/Students and undertake visits to clinical placements and also attend our OSCEs as part of our assessment process.
Award and progression boards: You will have responsibility for the Specialist Practice DN Award and will therefore be expected to attend the award boards during the year. As an External Examiner you are required to submit an annual report following which payment is made.
