The Department of Nursing and Midwifery is looking to appoint an exceptional Senior Lecturer who can contribute to outstanding teaching and learning and research in Emergency and Critical Care.
The University of the West of England is continuing its success in REF 2014 by creating a number of ‘New Blood’ posts for exceptional individuals to provide exciting opportunities to progress our 2020 strategic goals of ‘Research with Impact’ and ‘Outstanding Learning’.
For the first three years you will divide your time 50:50 between emergency and critical care research and teaching on our undergraduate, postgraduate and workforce development programmes in nursing, as appropriate. This will enable you to establish a strong, balanced profile in the longer term, combining teaching and research. You will be provided with appropriate training, support and mentoring.
You will be responsible for developing and integrating research activities (grant writing, project supervision, publications) and teaching activities (undergraduate, postgraduate and workforce development). The broad aims are to develop a personal profile of emergency and critical care research as a member of our established research theme, and a teaching profile that facilitates the integration of research into educational programmes.
The Emergency and Critical Care research theme has a strong track record of grant funded research and high impact publications, and in the past five years has been awarded two silver IDEAs (International Design Excellence Awards) for design research in pre-hospital care. There is also close integration with researchers from Bristol University and the Bristol Health Partners Health Integration Teams in avoidable hospital admissions, childhood injury and dementia.
