This is an exciting new appointment with City University London, School of Health Sciences, with strong links to clinical practice. We are keen to appoint a Senior Lecturer who will also undertake the role of Programme Director for the Pre-Registration Children’s Nursing programmes. It is an exceptional opportunity for a senior academic in the field of Children’s Nursing to undertake a unique leadership and management role. This role is a dual appointment for a Senior Lecturer. In addition, the successful candidate will undertake the role of Programme Director for the Children’s Nursing programme (for a 3 year period initially).

As a Programme Director role, the successful candidate will have the passion and drive to lead and develop our current Children’s Nursing programmes, ensuring modules deliver inspiring teaching, learning and assessment, resulting in excellent student experience. The role of Programme Director is in addition to that of Senior Lecturer and this attracts an additional responsibility allowance of £2,082 per annum.

Senior Lecturer (Education route)

Main Duties

  • To make a significant contribution to the leadership of educational activities of the School, in line with the Education & Student Strategy, ensuring education is of high quality, professionally relevant and informed by research and scholarship.
  • To undertake scholarship, conduct individual and, where appropriate, collaborative research in line with the University’s research strategy, develop a related-publications record and internal/external profile and contribute to income-generation activities.
  • To undertake scholarly activities designed to enhance education
  • To participate in activities related to enterprise and (where relevant to the role) professional practice.
  • To undertake administrative or management responsibilities, and play a part as a leader of the wider academic community, as appropriate to an academic role at this level.
  • To undertake other duties within the scope of the post, as reasonably requested by the Dean of School and Divisional Lead.

Senior Lecturer (Education and Research)

Main Duties

  • To develop a personal research portfolio and related publications record in line with the University’s research strategy and an expert reputation at national/international level. To generate research income and engage in or lead collaborative research, including where appropriate, cross and/or interdisciplinary research and research with partners in professional practice. To make a significant contribution to educational activities and educational development within the School, in line with the University’s Education & Student Strategy, and play an appropriate role at University level in ensuring that education is of high quality and professionally relevant.
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant research activities within the School and the outcomes of wider disciplinary, pedagogic and practice-based research, in order to inform evidence-based approaches to education.
  • To undertake administrative or management responsibilities and play a part as a member/leader of the wider academic community, as appropriate to an academic role at this level.
  • To undertake other duties within the scope of the post, as reasonably requested by the Dean of School and Divisional Lead.
