We are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to the role of Reader- Ageing / Older People. A new hub concerned with ageing and dementia is shortly to be opened at the University and this role offers exceptional opportunities for leadership and growth in this area. We are also a partner of the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership Teaching Care Home programme. We are open to candidates from any disciplinary background, and who have interests in ageing / older people. We would particularly welcome those with intersecting interests in integrated care, care homes, intermediate care, ageing in community contexts and smart ageing.

The post holder will have a sustained track record of delivering world leading research – creating and delivering programmes of research, securing external research funding, publishing high quality outputs, supervising postgraduate students to completion, growing research capacity, generating significant impact, and contributing to relevant policy development and national debate. Readers and Senior lecturers in the School are also expected to provide academic leadership in relation to our educational offerings across undergraduate, postgraduate and workforce development contexts.

Enterprise forms a strong part of our School portfolio and we would be looking for a candidate who can support and contribute to the Enterprise Strategy in the School. The strategy focuses on several aspects including: continuous professional development (non- accredited programmes/bespoke delivery), commercialisation of our facilities/simulation suites, turning invention into innovation from research outputs and being involved in the submission of tenders and consultancy work.
