The Division of HSRM is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Assistant / Trial Co-ordinator to work on a NIHR-funded multicentre randomised controlled trial. The research will evaluate a web-based tool for parents of children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA).
The Research Assistant / Trial Co-ordinator will join an established team of researchers within Health Services Research and Management and will work collaboratively with colleagues at the Institute of Child Health, Great Ormond Street Hospital and other NHS Hospital Trusts.
This role will involve the recruitment of trial participants, collection of trial data, day-to-day co-ordination of the trial under the supervision of the CI, travel to NHS sites in the UK to ensure the successful completion of the trial along with maintenance of the trial database and contribution to the write-up of study findings. Other key responsibilities will include regular data reports to the funder and local clinical research networks (CRNs) and management of the Trial Steering Committee (TSC), to include meeting organisation, agenda preparation and minute writing.
The successful candidate will have a first degree in Psychology or related subject and a MSc in health psychology or related subject, or relevant experience, along with experience of conducting research or collaborative working with clinicians in the NHS and knowledge of trial design and methodology. Experience of developing, maintaining and producing information from databases, excellent organisation and communication skills, a co-operative and flexible working style and the ability to work both independently and as a team are also essential requirements.
