The Living Lab in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing is an interactive learning facility based on the patient journey. This unique, purpose-built environment uses advanced hi-fidelity simulation equipment to deliver integrated working between university researchers, staff, students and healthcare and life sciences partners. This is an outstanding learning environment for students and professionals alike, designed to simulate multiple healthcare environments, yet provide a high level of flexibility. It includes several labs designed to mimic real world environments, for example hospital, point of care, a pharmacy dispensary and, a high fidelity simulation suite and debrief/PBL room incorporating clinical skills resources.
To assist us in the further development of our vision we are looking to recruit to the post of Reader in Clinical Simulation. This academic subject lead and high level scholar will make an exceptional contribution to the furtherance of knowledge within the University and/or its application to society whether by research, consultancy, or, professional practice. They will develop and maintain a detailed personal knowledge of simulation education theory and methodology; lead the academic discipline; and, set the standards for the development of curricula with achievable objectives for simulation activity in academic programmes and courses.
This role will support the continual development and delivery of the Sunderland School of Nursing and, the Sunderland School of Pharmacy, ensuring excellence in student experience both on campus and in placement.
