This is a full-time post for three years in the first instance working within Oxford Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Research (OxINAHR), Oxford Brookes University and Heath Education England Thames Valley (HEETV).

This joint senior position is to address and expand research that integrates academic and professional clinical practice to improve the quality of patient care and the patient experience across the Thames Valley region and to undertake research and academic work within OxINAHR. The post holder will be committed to innovation and collaborative working.

They will lead on specific research portfolios linked to the DH Mandate for Complex Older Person Care and Thames Valley Local Delivery Plan, focusing on the ‘Dementia mandate’ and the ‘Older persons mandate’. Therefore achieving the ambitions of HEETV to meet local needs and contribute to the delivery of HEE’s strategic intent and the Secretary of State’s priorities.

The appointee to this position will be situated within OxINAHR, and so will have the support of a strong community of nurse and allied health researchers. In addition, collaboration both locally and nationally provides opportunity for development and innovation and includes the following groups and organisations in this role, clinicians, researchers, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, Primary Care, pharmaceutical industry, NIHR organisations both local and national.

Qualifications required for post:

  • PhD in subject relevant to nursing or equivalent.
  • Current NMC registration as 1st level nurse.

Experience required for post:

  • Experience of initiating, developing and delivering high-quality research and publishing articles of international standing.
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team, to develop and deliver academic programmes.
