The MSc /PG Dip/PG Cert Professional Education programme at Queen Margaret University Edinburgh (QMU) is supported by staff from the School of Health Sciences (Nursing) and the Centre for Academic Practice. QMU has a large multi-professional portfolio of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels providing learning and teaching opportunities from Certificate to Doctorate level within the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF).
We are seeking an External Examiner for the MSc /PG Dip/PG Cert Professional Education, at SCQF Level 11. The PGCE is currently accredited by the Higher Education Academy (Associate Fellowship and Fellowship) and the NMC (Teacher award).
This programme is designed to facilitate and accredit educators in Professional roles in order to enhance their practice and that of others. It is a dynamic, interactive and work-related programme which has been designed in response to the continuing professional development needs of those professionals with an educational role. Core modules include: Education in Action, Curriculum Development, Technology Enhanced Learning and Current Issues in Professional Education. This programme uses varied teaching and learning approaches to assist students to draw out the learning potential from their own practice, and apply theory to practice. A blended model of learning is used including VLEs, face to face learning experiences and work-based learning. A range of assessment strategies are utilised including oral presentations, written assignments, reflective accounts and e-portfolio.
