You will be joining the department at an exciting time and will be expected to make a sustained, significant and original contribution to knowledge within the Social Care field. You will champion the highest standards in teaching, research and knowledge exchange. We will look to you to build on your, and our, high international profile as you speak at conferences, undertake learned society and committee work, judge awards and prizes and act as a research council peer reviewer or PhD examiner.
You will also be expected to contribute to the professional development of social work and social care. At the same time, you will maintain a steady record of quality publications in peer reviewed journals or books and generate significant contract income, and you will have a central part to play in attracting postgraduate research students of the highest calibre. With tenure as Head of Department for your first four years, you will take the department to the next level. This is a rotational role; after four years, we will review your progress and you will either continue leading the department forward or revert to a professorial role.
Qualified to doctorate level in Social Work and very experienced in your field, you will bring exceptional organisational, negotiating and leadership skills, plus a clear and original vision for our syllabus. Naturally, you will require proven ability to lead and direct research, attract funding and develop colleagues, and you will be a genuinely original and creative thinker with exceptional passion for making a difference. This is a full time role (35 hours).
