The Centre for Care Excellence is a unique partnership between University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) and Coventry University which aims to empower staff at every level to be able to develop ideas to make ‘patient first’ improvements. (https://www.uhcw.nhs.uk/leading-research/centre-for-care-excellence/)

This is an exciting new role, which represents additional investment and renewed commitment towards our joint ambitions for excellence. The role offers a unique opportunity to help develop a newly-created Centre committed to Care Excellence. As a new role, there is opportunity to use your expertise to create and shape evidence-based projects and innovative activities to inform practice, education and research within the trust, the university and beyond, creating national and international influence.

We are therefore seeking an excellent clinical academic Nursing leader who has the vision, motivation and passion to drive and shape a transformational approach to enhance patient care through research, practice development, education and innovation across both organisations.

As the Professor in Nursing within the Centre, you will report directly to the Head of School for Nursing, Midwifery and Health in the University and the Chief Nursing Officer within UHCW, and join the leadership team along with other Professors (in Midwifery and Physiotherapy) to develop and deliver our joint agenda.

Not there yet? We can consider you for an Associate Professor Post

We also have unique opportunities to develop clinical academic careers within our newly-created Centre, enabling you to enhance patient care through research, practice development, education and innovation across both organisations. You should be clinically expert within your specialty, hold a PhD, have a developing research portfolio and a personal development plan that will enable you to realise your ambitions of progression to Professor within the next 3-5 years.

The successful candidate will have access to our successful iCAhRETM (Interdisciplinary Clinical Academic Research Health Excellence) programme to support them as they develop their clinical academic career with us. https://www.uhcw.nhs.uk/leading-research/about-us/our-researchers/

In order to shape the Centre, a set of broad themes of interest have been established, based on local and national population health needs and priorities, the NHS Long Term Plan, the Five Year Forward Plan and Coventry and Warwickshire system plans.

These will be Full Time, joint appointments between the University and the Trust.

Successful Professor applicants will have a permanent, substantive contract with the University and an honorary contract with UHCW. Salaries will reflect the seniority of the position. We can consider appointing Associate Professors on NHS contracts.

Whilst the Centre will not seek to enter REF 2021, the goal will be for the Centre to meet REF criteria for the next cycle.

Registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council is essential for these posts.
