We wish to appoint an experienced, ambitious and forward-looking Professor of Midwifery to develop and expand our current research activities.
The person appointed will join a growing midwifery team delivering and developing midwifery both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level at the University of Worcester. The post holder would also join an enthusiastic and growing professoriate.
The post holder will be required to assume research leadership in their subject, including the development of a research strategy. We would hope that the individual appointed could enhance links both internally and externally to develop and strengthen the research base in midwifery.
In addition to teaching the discipline of midwifery, the post-holder would be expected to contribute to the teaching of related subjects within the Institute. The post-holder will also be expected to supervise postgraduate research students and successful post-graduate research degree supervision is essential.
The selection process will include:
- A guided tour of the current university facilities at the St John’s Campus, City Campus, the HIVE and University Arena.
- A 10 minute presentation to senior members of university staff on the following topic:
“Professors play a significant University role in leading and developing research strategy. What are the major challenges that face Universities and what strategies will you draw upon to develop and lead research over the next 3 years for the Institute of Health and Society?”
- A question-and-answer session to members of staff within the institute. Feedback from this session will be given to the selection panel.
- A formal interview with the selection panel chaired by the Vice Chancellor and other senior members of staff, including external advisers, as appropriate.
