This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional and experienced emergency medicine /care practitioner with evidence of excellence in academic and professional practice to take the lead role in developing this discipline.

With a national reputation as an academic or practitioner with evidence of dissemination of good practice to others, the post holder will further the University of Worcester’s excellent reputation in emergency medicine / care by leading developments in this discipline. As a principal lecturer you will work closely with the Heads of Unit and Programme Leads to develop the discipline of emergency medicine / care through new CPD and postgraduate course offers as well as existing programmes such as Pre-Registration Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic Science, Advancing Practice, Urgent and Acute Care and the Physician Associate programme.

The successful applicant will work in close collaboration with partner trusts, independent and voluntary sector organisations to enhance emergency care in university and practice arenas. The Institute works in collaboration with practice partners who support curriculum design and delivery to ensure future practitioners are fit for purpose. The Institute is committed to inter-professional learning and engagement of service users in the curriculum.

Research development in this field is at an early stage and we are seeking a candidate who has a realistic vision for developing this agenda alongside other researchers and the wider Professoriate. The successful candidate will act as a principal investigator in delivering applied research activities. The post holder will be supported to develop the national and international standing and reputation for the applied research undertaken in the Institute and to lead and participate in professional development to support applied research.
