Duties of the Role
We are seeking to appoint a Practice Educator to support the students whilst on practice placements for Mental Health Nursing students at the University of Essex. This new post within the University reflects our focus on high quality and transformational learning that equips our students for a post-qualified career in Nursing and life-long learning. The Nursing programmes require that a significant amount of the students’ time is spent within a placement setting. In recognition of the significant importance that practice based learning can have on a student’s achievement, this post has been created to provide a consistent and skilled source of support to students and their educators through close partnership working with placement providers.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to support, assess and evaluate students on the Nursing programmes run by the University of Essex and through excellent communication skills will provide support, practice-based skills teaching and clarification to learning.

Skills and qualifications required
Applicants must have a nursing background with recent practice experience and have a commitment to developing the adult learner and student nurse. Applicants must be flexible to meet with students in the workplace which operate different working patterns and meetings may occur outside normal office hours.
