Qualified Pharmacist required for teaching pharmacology, therapeutics and drug calculations on the Independent/Supplementary Prescribing Short Course (NMP) at the University of Lincoln
The University of Lincoln is looking to recruit a qualified pharmacist with current GPhC registration, who is enthusiastic about teaching qualified nurses, midwives and eligible Allied Health Professionals the underpinning theory and skills associated with safe, effective and appropriate prescribing practice.
The suitable candidate will have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team, taking a lead role in developing and providing pharmacology and therapeutics teaching for our educational prescribing programmes. There will be a particular focus on providing a blended learning approach in which students, as adult and independent learners, are directed to on-line educational resources and interactive platforms, enabling them to work remotely, but with the appropriate academic support.
The post requires involvement on all aspects of teaching and learning including developing examination papers for review by the External Examiner, marking and moderation in line with best practice principles and the University of Lincoln regulations. The role includes working collaboratively with the academic teaching team and the administrative team to ensure effective and smooth running of the modules comprising the prescribing programmes and the associated administration.
The successful applicant will provide teaching to groups of qualified, inter-professional learners throughout the 6-8 months’ duration of their prescribing programme, preparing them to meet the requirements of this challenging Programme/Short Course, which is approved by the NMC, and awaiting HCPC accreditation.
As our prescribing courses are provided at both level 6 and level 7, the role requires flexibility and a responsive, adaptive approach due to the diversity of academic attainment and the range of previous clinical experience within each cohort. The role advertised would be that of Associate Lecturer, with flexible hours and days of work.
