Staffordshire University School of Nursing & Midwifery is seeking to appoint an external examiner to ensure the quality of our Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programme, health visiting and school nursing routes, in the delivery of both theory and practice. In addition input will be required into two modules on the BSc (Hons) pre-registration nursing (Child Branch) and a post graduate Safeguarding Children module. Academic and clinical partners highly value the role of our external examiners.

If you wish to join our team of external examiners we would expect that you have an extensive understanding of the NMC Specialist Community Public Health Nursing standards and are responsible for the delivery of this programme or modules in your own institution. Applicants must hold current NMC registration in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (health visiting or school nursing) and hold a recorded teaching qualification with the NMC.

Intakes: We currently run our programme in September each year.

Venue for delivery: PgD / BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Public Health Nursing is delivered at our Stafford University site and across placement partners in Staffordshire and Shropshire.

Tenure: 01.10.15. to 30.09.19 (4 years)

Assessment Boards: Assessment Board dates will be confirmed upon appointment. We expect you would be able to attend at least 3 of these per year. In addition we expect that during your visits to the University you will be able to meet with Practice Teachers/Students, visit clinical placement areas and examine our oral presentation and examination processes.
Award and Progression boards: You will also have responsibility for the award and will be expected to attend the award boards during the year. The External Examiner is required to submit an annual report following which payment is made.
