We are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the MSc Pre-registration Nursing programme, starting in September 2024.
This programme is based within the Division of Nursing, Department of Health Sciences, College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences.
It is a full time 2-year postgraduate programme, which on successful completion leads to eligibility to register with the Nursing & Midwifery Council on part 1 of the register. This position requires the external examiner to be an Adult Nurse current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, with a recordable teaching qualification.
The appointment will be for four years from August 2024, and the commitment required is as follows:
- To review a range of coursework throughout the year, including Recognition of Prior Learning claims
- To attend via Teams assessment panels throughout the year and to submit an annual external examiner report.
- To engage in communication with the programme team.
- To carry out an interim visit per year, either in person or by virtual means, to meet with staff and students to obtain feedback on assessment in practice and to strengthen your engagement with the ongoing teaching, learning and assessment processes.
The University provides an External Examiner Induction/Briefing seminar to support those new to external examining and experienced External Examiners.
