The School of Health and Social Work are seeking to recruit a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) to join their friendly and growing team.
Main duties & responsibilities
To join the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing teaching team within the Primary Care Academic Group, undertaking planning, teaching, assessment and evaluation of the programme of study at undergraduate and postgraduate level for health visiting (and to teach on other appropriate Primary Care / Public Health programmes as required).
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer is expected to engage in scholarly and research activity, promote and maintain the policy of equal opportunities and participate in other academic activities within the School and University. At Senior Lecturer level, additional duties will include;
- Teach and develop the curriculum within designated modules, including the potential to contribute to short courses
- Perform administrative and quality assurance duties
- Contribute to Programme Development teams, Examination Boards and monitoring and review panels as appropriate
- Represent health visiting and public health/primary care locally and nationally, contributing to departmental activities and national networks
Skills and experience needed
The individual appointed must have current live registration as a health visitor with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. It is essential that the successful applicant has a sustained interest and knowledge of contemporary health visiting practice and recent experience in relation to health visiting and/or public health.
Qualifications required
At Lecturer level, you will hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related subject and a specialist community public health nursing qualification. For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, a Master’s degree is essential.
