The School has provided non-medical prescribing courses since 2004. The NMP course is validated at level 6 and level 7 leading to a graduate certificate or post graduate certificate. The courses are approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions and General Pharmaceutical Council. The recent expansion of Independent Prescribing for health professionals draws participants from a wide range of clinical backgrounds in acute and primary care. The course at LSBU is very positively evaluated by students and commissioners. We have a small multi-professional team who teach the NMP programme. A vacancy has arisen for a Pharmacology / pharmacotherapeutics lecturer to join the team. This would suit a health professional with a background in pharmacology / pharmacotherapeutics. Teaching experience would be an advantage, but not essential. Experience of independent or supplementary prescribing is essential and enthusiasm for teaching and helping students to develop is just as important.
