The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social work brings together Adult, Child, Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work into one vibrant and dynamic community. Our aim is to provide a high-quality learning experience for our students to enable them to realise their ambitions to become registered healthcare professionals and to continue their development through a range of continuing professional development opportunities. We are committed to providing a supportive environment for our students so they can develop the knowledge and skills to provide nursing care that is person-centred, compassionate, safe and effective. The child nursing team is supportive of staff and students, achieving 100% satisfaction score in the National Student Survey.

The School is seeking to appoint either a full-time or two part-time Lecturers in Child Nursing to teach various aspects of child nursing. We are seeking to appoint registered nurses with current clinical expertise who wish to explore a career in Higher Education. We would consider experienced child nurses who are willing to complete a degree (if not already obtained) and willing to undertake a teaching qualification.

You will be committed to high quality, evidence-based learning and teaching and be able to facilitate learning of a broad range of child nursing principles, knowledge, behaviour and skills and take on the role of personal academic tutor. You will be expected to contribute to modules in the pre-registration undergraduate programme and our nursing associate apprentice programme. You will also provide support to students during periods of practice placements and act as an academic assessor. An under-pinning principle of our work is the importance of the student experience and we would expect you to share this value and work in ways that will enhance it.

This is an ideal opportunity for those who wish to support the development of students in both practice and university settings.

The post holder is required to be current on the NMC register as a child nurse and will, ideally, have a first degree in a relevant discipline. Successful applicants will be supported, where needed, to complete their degree and undertake the Postgraduate Certificate Academic in Practice.
