The Division of Language & Communication Science in the School of Health Sciences is the largest provider of Speech & Language Therapy education in the UK with experts in most domains of Speech & Language Therapy and leaders from aligned subjects including Phonetics, Linguistics, Psychology and Audiology.

The Language & Communication Science Research Centre conducts world-leading research across several specialist areas including developmental and acquired language impairment; deafness; sign language and gesture; speech phonology and linguistics; social disadvantage and quality of life. It has a thriving aphasia research team, with funded projects investigating the benefits of peer support, technological applications in aphasia rehabilitation, the benefits of solution-focused therapy and narrative intervention.

Responsibilities

The Division is seeking to appoint an outstanding, qualified, HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist with experience in education and student supervision with a particular interest in supporting students’ clinical education. The appointed candidate will contribute to the Division’s research, its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and may support education within the wider School.

Person Specification

For appointment on an Education profile, candidates will have a postgraduate degree or an appropriate and equivalent professional qualification with a record of producing world-leading or internationally excellent research being desirable.
