Staffordshire University is a leading university for the delivery of the Operating Department Practice course. The Centre of Excellence at Stafford has a dedicated theatre simulation suite and superb student facilities to enhance the commitment to academic excellence and the facilitation of student learning.

We are currently seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to join the established teaching team in supporting and facilitating learners through their study to become registered Operating Department Practitioners. The post is permanent and full time, although a part time position may be considered, and is based at The Centre of Healthcare Excellence, Blackheath Lane Campus, Stafford although some travel to Stoke Campus and practice placement areas will be expected on occasions.

The role involves preparation and delivery of teaching and learning activity on various aspects of the ODP course including the delivery of clinical skills, personal tutoring, assessment and support of students in placement. The successful applicant will have extensive experience and knowledge of working within a theatre environment and will be very familiar with the requirements of the Operating Department Practitioner. Effective teamwork and excellent communication skills are essential. Familiarity with the ODP undergraduate course would be beneficial and formal teaching experience is preferred but is not essential, although applicants who do not hold a teaching qualification would be expected to work towards one.

Applicants must hold a relevant professional qualification or undergraduate degree and registration with a relevant regulatory body is essential (i.e. HCPC, NMC, GMC).
