There is an exciting opportunity to join Sheffield Hallam University’s Department of Nursing and Midwifery as a Lecturer in Midwifery. You will be joining our growing midwifery provision and will be contributing to training the next generation of health care professionals. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with contemporary experience in clinical practice and/or education. As one of the largest providers of pre-registration education in the UK, you will be working with a diverse, vibrant community of academics, practitioners and researchers.

You must possess excellent knowledge in contemporary midwifery practice, be proficient in the delivery of clinical skills training, and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Midwife and ideally possess a masters-level qualification. You should also possess, or have a commitment to achieve, a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, leading to a recordable qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as Lecturer / Practice educator.

You must be highly motivated, well organised with good communication and IT skills. You will be expected to provide support to students in academic and placement environments, establish your clinical link/academic advisor role and provide pastoral support for our students. Our links with NHS services require you to deliver the programme and support students across a wide geographical area. The ability to inspire, motivate and connect with a range of partners including students and external clients from a range of different backgrounds is therefore essential.

On appointment you will help the team to develop and engage with new innovative learning and teaching methods and participate in midwifery and maternity related research.
