Due to the early retirement of the current external examiner, we are seeking to appoint an external examiner for the social work programme within the Health and Social Care Undergraduate Continuing Professional Development Scheme, to commence in September 2014. You will be joining a team of six external examiners.
The role would be to examine Level 6 subject specific modules. There are 8 programmes within the Scheme and you would examine work from the following:
BA (Hons) Adult – 3 taught modules relating to Adult Services in social work and social care
BA (Hons) Child – 3 taught modules relating to Children and Family Services in social work and social care
These programmes both relate to the Post Qualifying Award in Social Work, although they are also open to people working within social care who do not necessarily hold a social work qualification. In addition to the social work/social care area-specific modules, both programmes include the CPD scheme’s common core module, Inquiry Based Approaches and a Practice Education module. The external examiner would be allocated modules from across these to scrutinise. As the core learning outcomes do relate to social work knowledge, skills and values, therefore someone with a social work qualification would be in the best position to assess and provide feedback on these module assignments.
For further information about the position please contact Peter Ellis, Acting Scheme Director, Health and Social Care CPD Scheme, Department of Nursing and Applied Clinical Studies on 01227 782521 or e-mail email@example.com or Georgina Koubel, Programme Director Post Qualification Social Work, on Georgina.firstname.lastname@example.org
Applications should be made by CV and supporting letter to the e-mail given by 2nd July 2014.
