Closing Date:

Salary Range:

This is one of two new posts which have been generated as a result of the successful growth and development of our School of Nursing and Professional Practice. As Head of Discipline for Midwifery and Children’s Nursing, you will lead and manage a team of highly skilled and experienced academic staff in the delivery of programmes for student midwifery and children’s nurses. You will also be expected to be an external lead for midwifery and children’s nursing with our practice partners, including fostering and developing new partnerships and supporting our current, valued relationships.

You will be required to hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, as a midwife and/or children’s nurse, as well as current evidence of academic and professional development at doctoral level, or equivalent.

You will work pro-actively with the Head of School and the other Discipline Leads within the School as well as across the wider College and central units of the University to support and develop staff, students and partners in the context of the University’s values and behaviours. You will have devolved responsibility from the Head of School for the line management of staff in the Discipline(s) and for maximising people potential and engagement across the full range of academic activities, by providing strong leadership that is both supportive and challenging.

You will work closely with colleagues across the University to ensure teaching excellence and to maximise student success and experience. You’ll maintain high standards of teaching, learning and assessment in all its forms and the development of scholarship and research in the Discipline area; you will lead by example through active engagement with teaching, research and scholarship. In addition, you will initiate and ensure engagement with our practice learning partners to ensure excellence in relation to the student experience.

You will benchmark performance against competitors and identify opportunities for further growth and development.
