The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, King’s College London is currently seeking to recruit a new External Peer to our Faculty Education Committee and Academic Standards and Quality Committee.
As an External Peer, the individual will have a significant role in commenting on quality assurance processes within meetings as well as providing external input to strategic and operational discussions on education provision.
In addition to attending Committee meetings, an External Peer participates in College-based and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) academic reviews.
For academic reviews, an External Peer will be a full member of the review panel and will carry out this role in accordance with College and NMC procedures. The External Peer will also take an overview of the process, ensuring that appropriate attention is given to the setting and maintenance of academic standards.
External Peers receive an annual payment of £1,000 which will be paid at the end of the academic year. Reimbursement of expenses for travel and any other associated costs will be made as they occur, on presentation of a claim supported by receipts. The College’s Quality and Academic Support section will arrange the payment of fees and expenses to External Peers.
External Peers are appointed on a two-year paid contract in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal for a maximum of one further two-year period. At the end of their contract External Peers will be asked to provide a report on their experience and to suggest any areas for further improvement.
