External Examiners x 2 posts for Non-Medical Prescribing

  • Post 1 – External examiner for nurses and midwives
  • Post 2 – External examiner for pharmacists and allied health professionals

The University of Central Lancashire is seeking to appoint TWO experienced and suitably qualified academics to act as External Examiners for the Non-Medical Prescribing course (Independent & Supplementary Prescribing Qualification).

The successful applicants must be registered on the NMC register (Post 1) and the GPhC register (Post 2) and have the Independent & Supplementary Prescribing qualification. The applicants will also have experience of teaching and leading prescribing courses. He/she will be required to review both Level 6 and Level 7 work including a number of assessments. These include – numeracy exam; pharmacology exam; OSCE and a selection of 2000-2500 word reflective essays. There are six multi-disciplinary intakes per year, two of which are open to pharmacists.

The External Examiners will be expected to attend at least one programme assessment board per year (either June or December), review student work, contribute to the overall assessment process and produce an Annual Report.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced academic staff. All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University’s criteria.

The appointment will be with effect from September 2020 and will be for a period of four years.
