The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences requires External Examiners to support the School of Health Sciences.
The Learning and Teaching Strategy for the School of Health Sciences is centred on the student learning experience. Staff in the School value active student engagement and undertake innovative approaches to their teaching and assessment thus ensuring high standards. Staff aim to empower learners who can participate in team and independent learning activities. Learners are encouraged to use initiative for their own discovery and generation of understanding, leading to commitment to lifelong learning through increased confidence and ability.
External Examiners will be appointed for three years starting in October 2014 with the possibility of further appointment for a fourth year. They are expected and encouraged to comment on the content of the subject area particularly with regard to subject benchmarks, the structure of the programme, the appropriateness of the assessment procedures and the general conduct of the assessment process. Ideally some of the External Examiners will be able to examine across both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
We are looking for External Examiners to cover the following areas:
• Foundation Degree Health and Social Care Practice programme
As well as the following modules:
• Advanced Communication Skills
• Chemotherapy Nursing Practice: Issues in Care Management
• Concepts of Advanced Practice
• Dissertation (Research Project)
• Palliative Care Interventions
• The Science of Cancer
