Leeds Beckett University is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our pre-registration nursing courses. Applicants must be registered with the NMC as an Adult Nurse and have a practice/ clinical focus and a strong academic background. The External Examiner is expected to work across both adult nursing and mental health nursing fields of practice, including the FdSc Nursing Associate provision, as the course is largely integrated, in conjunction with the existing External Examiner team. Field specific modules will be allocated to Examiners. External Examiners are expected to attend Board of Examiners meetings at least once a year, submit an annual report, and visit practice placements annually. Previous experience of external examining is not necessary as the University is able to provide mentorship to the successful applicant. An online induction is provided, and further support is also provided by the Course Leader and Course Director. The appointment is planned to commence on 31 January 2019 and the tenure is for a period of four years. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University.
