Birmingham City University, Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for modules within the BSc (Hons) Nursing (mental health) programme including flexible and work based learning modules.
The successful applicant must be registered with the NMC as a qualified teacher, with relevant experience in mental health and teaching on a mental health nursing programme. The successful applicant will review a number of modules at level 5 and 6, for January cohort groups (90 students annually) contributing to the overall assessment process.
All course work is electronically submitted via Moodle and marked online; External Examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be made available.
The External Examiner would be expected to attend a minimum of 2 assessment boards per year including annual quality day events.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential. The University provides an induction for all External Examiners, mentorship will be provided for candidates new to external examination posts.
The appointment will run from 1 October 2015 to 30 September 2019.
