Birmingham City University, Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for modules within the BSc (Hons) Defence Health Care Studies programme. This is a small, bespoke, top-up degree programme which offers students four modules, on a part time delivery basis.
The successful applicant must hold a minimum academic qualification at Master’s degree level and must be able to demonstrate professional knowledge of UK Healthcare systems. Professional registration within the field of healthcare would also be desirable, as would a working knowledge of the Defence Medical Services. The successful applicant will review a number of modules at level 6.
All course work is electronically submitted via Moodle and marked online; External Examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be made available. The External Examiner would be expected to attend a minimum of two Examination Boards per academic year, in addition to the annual programme quality event.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential. The University provides an induction for all External Examiners, mentorship will be provided for candidates new to external examination posts.
The appointment will run from January 2016 for a period of four years.
