The University of Bedfordshire, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an external examiner to the V300 Nurse and Midwife Independent and Supplementary Prescribing Unit.
This is a part-time Unit which extends over a period of 30 weeks. It adopts a work-integrated approach to learning which facilitates the application of theoretical learning within the workplace. Students attend University one day a week and engage in work-based learning activities in their own healthcare practice setting for the remainder of the time. The course runs twice per year, with approximately 25 students in each intake.
We are keen to recruit someone who has a Nurse Prescribing recordable qualification or experience of delivering such a course. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we also welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role. The successful candidate will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure.
You will be asked to attend approximately 3 academic boards per year. You will also be invited to observe practical assessments (such as OSCEs) and visit students within practice areas. The specific remit includes review of the unit at academic level 7.
The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from December 2017.
Please note that all External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s External Examiner Committee.
For expressions of interest please send a current CV by 30th October to: Richard.firstname.lastname@example.org
