External Examiner – Substance Misuse

We are seeking to appoint an external examiner whose responsibilities will focus on a SCQF Level 9 module titled “Substance Misuse over the Lifespan”. This module is aimed at BSc Nursing Studies students who learn in collaboration with undergraduate Criminology students. The module focuses on critical issues and recent advances in the conceptualisation of substance use, misuse and dependence and their effects across the lifespan on individuals, families and communities. In addition students consider effective prevention and treatment approaches, the context of policy development and public protection.

Potential applicants should be able to evidence registration with the NMC.

They should have knowledge in relation to contemporary Substance misuse nursing practice. Awareness of course development and quality assurance measures in relation teaching, learning and assessment would be advantageous. Applicants new to the external examiner role would be considered. We would be looking for the successful candidate to commence in January. Induction to the School will be arranged on appointment.
