External Examiner – Return to Practice Nursing

We are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our Return to Practice Programme based in the School of Nursing. The programme provides a flexible approach to meeting the NMC Standards for Return to Practice in Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disability and Children’s Nursing. Those who complete the programme are eligible to apply to re-register with the Nursing & Midwifery Council. This position requires the external examiner to have current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council. The appointment will be from September 2021 for four years and the commitment required is as follows:

  • To review a range of coursework and practice learning portfolios throughout the year.
  • To attend one board of examiners meeting for the programme each year and submit an annual external examiner report.
  • To engage in communication with the programme team when required.
  • To carry out at least one virtual or face to face meeting with students and, where possible, with practice partners to strengthen their engagement with both theoretical and practice earning processes.

All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the university’s criteria for appointment. Fees and expenses are payable in line with the university policy.
