External Examiner for the Return to Practice Nursing Programme (RtP)

The Return to practice programme offered by City University, London.

This programme is designed to meet the needs of nurses from all fields of nursing practice (Adult, Children’s, Mental Health and Learning Disability) whose registration with the NMC has lapsed, and who wish to return to clinical nursing practice. Following successful completion of the programme you will be recommended for re registration on the NMC register.

The aim of this programme is to provide the opportunity for registered nurses to achieve the knowledge, skills and competencies required by the Nursing & Midwifery Council to return to practice. The module supports students to develop their knowledge, skills and values to meet the changing needs of complex healthcare in the 21st Century. Students are expected to demonstrate professional values, exercise clinical judgement, champion diversity and challenge inequalities. The student will be a critical user of research and a range of evidence to guide and develop their practice. This module fosters a commitment to lifelong learning and academic excellence, and to work towards achieving their future aspirations as a registered practitioner.

The course is modular in design and requires the student to be successful in each module assessment. Following the recent publication of the NMC standards we will redevelopment the Return to Practice Programme and the individual appointed to the External Examiner role for this programme would be expected to contribute to the redevelopment process.
