External Examiner – Return to Practice for Healthcare Professionals (RTP) and Support for Learning in Practice (SLiP) programmes

The Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Bradford is looking for a dedicated individual to undertake the role of external examiner for our Return to Practice for Healthcare Professionals (RTP) and Support for Learning in Practice (SLiP) programmes to commence with immediate effect.

Return to Practice for Healthcare Professionals is an 11 week (30 credits at Level 6) module. It runs twice yearly in February and September. The assessment consists of a combination of practice hours and a written essay. Successful students are eligible to return to the Nursing and Midwifery Council register following this programme.

Support for Learning in Practice is a 10 credit blended learning module which runs 2/3 times per year, at levels 6 and 7. It is an inter-professional programme which attracts students from a wide range of professional backgrounds. The assessment consists of two elements: practice (pass/fail) and a written essay.

You should have appropriate expertise/experience in the areas of the nursing or midwifery and have experience of mentoring or mentorship programmes, be able to undertake a role in the assurance of academic standards in Higher Education and should be aware of modern developments in the design and delivery of the flexible curriculum.

You should not hold more than one other UK Higher Education External Examiner post at the start of the contract and be qualified to at least the level of the programme to be examined. Applicants should possess a BSc or Masters qualification and be a registered health professional with either the NMC or HCPC.
