We are seeking to replace External Examiners during the next academic year in the areas outlined below. The University of Brighton offers extensive support for External Examiners, including the opportunity to attend an annual workshop, which includes an outline of the University of Brighton’s General Examination and Assessment Regulations. Further support is also provided by the relevant course leaders as well as by the Chief External Examiner for the programme. The University would normally expect that External Examiners attend a minimum of one examination board per year but may be required to offer telephone support on other occasions.
Applicants are advised that the University applies the following criteria to External Examiners:
•the area of expertise of External Examiners would be within the area of assessments being examined;
•applicants should be employed (or have recently been employed) within a University appointment;
•he/she must not have been a University of Brighton examiner within the last five years;
•for some programmes, he/she will be required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council;
•current/recent internal examining experience.
The University of Brighton would not normally appoint more than one External Examiner from the same programme team within a University.
