The School of Health & Social Care at the University of Essex is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for Professional Doctorates and Research modules in Health & Social Care programme. This would include:
- Professional Doctorates Health & Social Care
The programme provides doctoral level work incorporating research and professional practice. Students come from a range of senior positions within health and social services. The post holder will be responsible for examining work leading to completion of the programme, but not the final research dissertation which is examined by viva.
HS927 Statistical Analysis
HS945 – Research Methods
HS947 – Theory and method in health research
HS948 – Qualitative Health Research
HS995 – Year 1 Professional Portfolio
HS994 – Year 2 Professional Portfolio
The External Examiner would also be responsible for a number of research related modules that are taking as part of other courses, including modules making up the MA Health Organisation Research and MA Health Research. Modules which include:
HS602 Developing Critical Appraisal Skills
HS900 – Critical Appraisal of Research for Health Care Practice
HS908 – Data Collection & Analysis
The University has a fixed but significant remuneration policy for External Examiners.
The External Examiner would take up post as soon as possible, and commence examining duties as soon as possible after November 2017. The previous External Examiner has completed their tenure and has made a valued contribution to the development of the programme.
