The Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health is seeking to appoint a new External Examiner for our portfolio of primary care modules offered within the Post-Registration Education Studies suite of programmes, which offers Continuing Professional Development for Qualified Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals.

The External Examiner will be expected to monitor the quality of the modular coursework across this provision with a primary care focus. The External Examiner will be expected to monitor the quality of the primary care modules, which will primarily include the Advanced Diploma/Graduate Certificate Award in General Practice Nursing (Level 6), but also includes Prevention and Management of Diabetes in Adults Level 6, Cardiac Health in Primary Care Level 6 and Promoting Sexual Health in Primary Care Level 6/Level 7.

We are seeking candidates whose expertise would enable them to monitor the quality of these courses and externally moderate assessed work arising from the modules offered in our primary care courses. External Examiners are invited to attend at least one Assessment Board a year and are required complete an annual report. External Examiners are also required to provide comments on proposed modifications and the development of new modules within their area of expertise.

Applicants should hold appropriate professional registration and academic qualifications. It is preferable to have previous experience of external examining although support and guidance can be provided for those new to this role.
