The Nursing & Health Care School requires two external examiners for postgraduate taught programmes (MSc) and PgCert Leadership in Health & Social Care (ODL). Our programmes enable students to develop their skills and attributes in education, research, critical thinking, global citizenship and leadership. Students are typically experienced healthcare professionals from a range of international or UK backgrounds, who continue in clinical practice during their studies or return to practice after graduation.

The ideal candidates would be suitably qualified nurse academics who are familiar with postgraduate teaching and programme management, and who have previous experience as an external examiner. Appointments will commence at the start of the academic year in 2021-22 and run for four years.

Successful applicants will be responsible for reviewing a range of courses and/or independent projects.

The main duties would normally be as follows:

  • Review and evaluate assessment and feedback processes throughout the year
  • Attend the main examination board/s
  • Submit an annual external examiner report.
  • Advise the programme team on programme structure and enhancements

Appointments are subject to the University Senate’s criteria for the appointment of external examiners.

Informal inquiries can be made to Dr Eileen Cowey (eileen.cowey@glasgow.ac.uk)

Interested applicants should submit a one page CV and letter of interest by email to the Postgraduate Programme Administrator, Kirsty McColl (kirsty.mccoll@glasgow.ac.uk).

The closing date for applications is 7th May 2021.
