The Postgraduate Diploma: Person-centred Practice [District Nursing] Programme at Queen Margaret University- Edinburgh (QMU) is supported by staff from the School of Health Sciences. QMU has a large multi-professional portfolio of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels providing learning and teaching opportunities from Certificate to Doctorate level within the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

We are seeking an External Examiner for the Postgraduate Diploma: Person-centred Practice [District Nursing] Programme at SCQF Level 11. The programme structure is shown in the diagram below. The modules to be examined are:

  • Theory and Practice of Person-centred Health and Wellbeing
  • Leading Person-centred Practice for Health and Wellbeing
  • Advancing Practice in Clinical Assessment
  • Person-centred Specialist District Nursing Practice
  • Independent and Supplementary Prescribing for Healthcare Professionals
  • Evidencing Specialist Practice in District Nursing (overarching, practice-based portfolio)

[Advancing Practice in Clinical Assessment, and Independent and Supplementary Prescribing for Healthcare Professionals are undertaken by a number of associate students either as standalone modules or as part of another pathway]

This programme uses a variety of teaching and learning approaches to assist students to draw out the learning potential from their own practice and apply theory to practice. A blended model of learning is used including Virtual Learning Environments, discussion boards, face to face learning experiences, including facilitated sessions, and seminars, together with work-based learning.

A range of assessment strategies are utilised including exams, written assignments, reflective accounts, community profiling, presentation, and e-portfolio.
