External Examiner – PGCert Approved Mental Health Professional Practice

The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint a subject external examiner for the PGCert Approved Mental Health Professional Practice in relation to the following course units;

  • Applied Mental Health Law
  • Practice Portfolio
  • Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
  • Best Interest Assessor

Applications are therefore invited from individuals who have demonstrable experience of teaching and assessing at level 7 in the above areas.

Our PGCert has been designed for those wishing to seek authorisation under the Mental Health Act 1983, as amended in 2007, to discharge the duties of an Approved Mental Health Professional. The course combines academic study with practice in mental health, with a focus on AMHP training.

All coursework is electronically submitted by students and is marked online using Grademark and Turnitin. External examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be available.

The University appointments for external examiners are normally for a period of 4 years.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Working in a UK HEI with no formal educational links with the University of Manchester in the last 5 years.
  • Master’s Degree in a related subject area.
  • Direct experience of teaching and assessing in the above subject area.

Desirable

  • Research and publications in a related area.
