The School of Healthcare is seeking to appoint an external examiner for its post registration Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care programme. This programme is comprised of the following modules, some of which are also studied by students on the BSc (Hons) Nursing (pre-registration) programme as optional modules:
- HECS 3088 Patient Focused Palliative Care (Level 3, 10 credits)
- HECS 3106 Assessment and Management Of The Patient With Advanced Disease (Level 3, 20 credits)
- HECS 3108 Reactions To Loss (Level 3, 10 credits)
The School is planning to develop a programme in palliative care at postgraduate level in the forthcoming year. Both current and future provision is delivered in collaboration with a local hospice.
Applications are sought from healthcare professionals, who are educated to at least masters level and hold a recognised teaching qualification. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven record of accomplishment in publishing and scholarly activity.
The tenure of appointment is for a period of one year in the first instance, normally followed by a further three year period. All external examiner appointments are subject to approval by the Faculty Taught Student Education Committee.
The School uses GradeMark to mark most assignments and for these the external examiner will be required to view students’ work and markers’ comments on-line.
Anyone wishing to be considered is invited to submit an expression of interest and detailed Curriculum Vitae outlining their teaching, research, and where applicable, external examining experience by Friday 26 September 2014 to: Deborah Schofield, School of Healthcare, The University of Leeds, LEEDS LS2 9UT; e-mail: email@example.com
