The School of Allied Health and Community at the University of Worcester is seeking an experienced External Examiner for our Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy courses. There is already an External Examiner in post for each course; this new role will be required to oversee the inter-professional modules which are shared between the two courses. It is envisaged that there will be significant liaison between all three External Examiners.
The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing the five 15 credit shared inter-professional modules delivered at levels 4, 5 and 6. The modules are as follows:
Level 4
- Foundations for Professional Practice
Level 5
- Applied Research and Evidence Based Practice
- Teamwork for Professional Practice
Level 6
- Enhancing Employability
- Leadership for Professional Practice

External Examiners play a central role in the maintenance of the standards of the University’s awards and the currency of the curriculum. They perform this role through:
- the approval of assessment tasks and examination papers
- discussions with relevant academic staff
- the review of samples of student work on modules within the programmes
- the endorsement of marks to confirm that the marks are an agreed, fully moderated and externally examined set of results
- the submission of annual reports
- attendance at appropriate boards of examiners (June)
- agreement to programme modifications
Ideal applicants should possess the following:
- Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and be members of either Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) or Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) as appropriate
- Relevant experience to maintain comparable quality standards
