The School is seeking to appoint a subject external examiner for modules within two certificate programmes:
• Graduate Certificate Neonatal Nursing
• Postgraduate Certificate Child Protection

Each programme comprises three modules, and the remit involves scrutiny of the theoretical components in line with UWS External Examiner Quality Assurance processes.

Modules:
Graduate Certificate Neonatal Nursing Modules:
1. Special Care Neonatal Nursing (MIDW10004)
2. Neonatal Intensive Care (MIDW10005)
3. Neonatal Work-Based Learning (MIDW10006)

Postgraduate Certificate Child Protection Modules:
1. Child Protection in Context (nurs110001)
2. Protecting Children (NURS110002)
3. Child Protection Practice (NURS110003)

External examiner responsibilities include moderation of assessments, completion of an annual monitoring report and attendance at subject panels where student marks are ratified. A schedule of subject panels per academic session will be made available. The School uses an electronic marking system associated with the originality checking programme Turnitin, called Grademark. External examiners are required to make use of the system during the external moderation process (this being accessible through Moodle Virtual Learning Environment).

Experienced and new external examiners will be considered provided the applicant has the relevant professional qualification(s) and experience. Relevant professional experience in the fields of neonatal nursing and child protection, and a valid teaching qualification are essential requirements for this post.
