The School of Healthcare is seeking to appoint an external examiner for its postgraduate pre-registration nursing programme. This full time programme has a variable student intake between 10 and 30 and was approved in 2013.
The role includes a number of field specific modules and some responsibility for cross nursing modules. Full programme details will be provided on appointment together with a briefing session.
We are seeking to appoint an individual who has a master’s degree (and preferably has or be working towards a PhD); is a registered adult nurse with a strong background in pre-registration nursing education; a track record of publishing and scholarly activity; and ideally be working within a Higher Education institution.
The appointment will be for one year in the first instance normally followed by a further 3 year term, to commence from March 2016. All appointments are subject to approval by the University Faculty Taught Student Education Committee.
There is a two tier examination board system comprising of a Module Assessment Board and School Progression and Awards Board (SPAB). All external examiners are full members of these committees and are required to attend at least one meeting of the SPAB per year and be available for consultation on assessment and curriculum issues.
The School uses GradeMark to mark assignments and the external examiner will be required to view students’ work and markers’ comments on-line.
For an informal discussion or for further information regarding the programme please contact Paula Mayo, Programme Leader, on 0113 343 7174 or e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org
Anyone wishing to be considered is invited to submit an expression of interest and detailed Curriculum Vitae outlining their teaching, research, publication and, where applicable, external examining experience by 12 February 2016 to:
