The University of Derby Online Learning’s mission is to be the learner’s first choice University for quality and opportunity. Our proposition is clear – education that is high quality and great value for money, offers choice and is delivered with the personal touch.
UDOL are seeking to appoint an External Examiner from September 2014, for a period of four years. The role of the External Examiner will be to oversee the MSc in Integrative Health and Social Care, an innovative new programme offered fully online. The course will attract a global cohort of students from a diverse range of professions.
The University of Derby regards External Examiners as a key element of its system of quality assurance and enhancement. The principal responsibilities of External Examiners include providing informative comment and recommendations upon whether or not the University is retaining its academic standards, comparing student performance with that of students on similar types of programme at UK Higher Education Institutions and assisting in ensuring the assessment process measures student achievement rigorously and fairly against the intended outcomes of the programme.
The programme will initially offer seven pathways consisting of an introductory module and two pathway-specific modules. These can be followed by another core module, two option modules and a dissertation to obtain the full MSc. Course information can be accessed from the University website http://www.derby.ac.uk/online/course/msc-integrative-health-and-social-care.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified academic staff with experience of managing and assessing students on similar programmes. External examiner experience would be an advantage, but is not essential. If you are interested in contributing to this exciting programme as an External Examiner, please forward a letter of interest and a CV to Yvonne Denby, Academic Lead for Health and Social Care at Y.Denby@Derby.ac.uk
