External Examiner – MSc Early Years Practice (Health Visiting)

The Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the MSc Early Years Practice (Health Visiting) programme. The appointment is a 4 year tenure commencing 1st September 2020 and ending 30th November 2024.

The programme is either two years full-time or three years part-time and students are registered nurses or midwives on Part 1 or Part 2 on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register. The course equips students with the higher level knowledge and skills to deliver safe and best practice in the role of Health Visitor as defined in the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (NMC, 2004). As an External Examiner you are required to:

  • Monitor the quality of the programme
  • Externally moderate assessed work
  • Attend two Awards Board per year
  • Complete an annual report
  • Comment on proposed modifications and the development of new modules

Applicants should be suitably qualified academics; hold current NMC registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Health Visiting and hold NMC registered teacher status. It would be desirable to have previous experience as an External Examiner, but this is not essential. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s Academic Council.
